Welcome to the Ignored Landscape

Our civilization has greatly changed the world. We have created a legacy of beautiful buildings, monuments, and gardens. Undeniably awe inspiring, those creations are a projection of what we want to say though not a complete picture of who we are.

We also construct plenty of utilitarian things, expected to do and not speak. These were meant to wrangle water, power, and the materials we use in everyday life. Their forms weren't meant to be visually appreciated, they're a necessity often considered a blight: overlooked and rarely celebrated.

We discard a great deal of things, from buildings losing their purpose to everyday items no longer needed. Disposed, abandoned, and not to be seen again. No matter how durable, all things ultimately return to nature, the blind and uncaring force we owe our existence. Structured intentional patterns blend into organic shape and rhythm.

"The sort of architectural spaces we inhabit are enormously important- they are powerful. If every member of the human race were to vanish, our successors from another planet could reconstitute the psychology of the people on this planet from its architecture" -- J.G. Ballard
