green
In colder climates winter weather sometimes will cover everything with snow. One day you're walking around a the bleak dead winter landscape with harsh edges. The next day a snowstorm has softened everything with a pristine coat of snow. Even sounds are muffled by fresh snow on the ground.
In California there is a different winter phenomenon. The rainy season and mild temperatures awaken plants waiting out the harsh dry season. The landscape that for most of the year is a dull dusty brown becomes a vivid green.
Almost every living thing on this planet is either green or depends upon green plants for life. Maybe that's why green is so instinctively pleasing.
